YAY!!!! We made it to our goal!!! We are at 107 lbs of crayons and counting! Thanks to everyone who donated...now we are going to try for 200 lbs! Thank you for helping us help the thecrayoninitiative.org. Keep those crayons coming!

Congratulations to our NUIC West Boys Basketball 2nd team all conference players Joe Winter and Damon Dittmar. The River Ridge Boys Basketball team was also selected for the Sportsmanship Award for the 2nd year in a row.

3-5th grades had a badminton tournament today and these two happy 5th graders won! Congratulations!

The FFA Chapter ended National FFA Week activities with the traditional hay bale toss. Lucas Holland won in the men's division with a throw of 22 feet and Graci Vanderheyden won in the ladies division with 11'8".

It’s concert time at Highland Community College! Cora Boop, Ian Wachter, and Mr. Dickman are performing on the small ensemble recital!

High school students are beginning new independent projects in Art class.

The FFA officers were busy cooking this morning for the Staff Appreciation Breakfast! They made scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuits n' gravy.

We had the tug-o-war contest and played musical buckets for our National FFA week activity today! Avery Engle was the last one standing to win in musical buckets. We also did a quizbowl competition where the freshmen trounced the other classes to take home top honors this year.

Check out these ALL-STARS! The 7th grade finished the All-Stars program today with Mrs. Muzzey from FHN. Throughout the program, students learned about goal setting, healthy habits, drug and alcohol prevention, and more. The final session had students standing up to share their personal commitments and receiving a certificate for completing the program!

US Grant / Fever River Middle School Girls Basketball Conference Tournament. February 24 & 26 at Scales Mound

Last Friday, the Galena Rotary Club held a meeting where they honored local sophomore students who were nominated by staff members of their respective schools for performance in the classroom, personal growth, and more. River Ridge staff nominated Ian Spangler as our Rotary Club Student of the Quarter for his academic growth and leadership in the classroom. Students and their families were treated to a lunch at the Desoto Hotel in Galena. Great job, Ian!

The third graders are collecting used crayons from now until March 15th! They will be donated to the Crayon Initiative, where they will be transformed into new crayons for children in hospitals. The 7th graders are working on putting the finishing touches on thier toolboxes. After building them they woodburned and then stained thier projects. They will be ready to take home in a few days!

Congratulations to Arthur Horn and Ty Spahn n winning thier categories at the FFA record book contest on Monday. They will now move on to the district level of competition in March!
