Went out yesterday to give the kids an update on the birds on the playground. I didn't find any birds, but look what I did find- Three little blue eggs! Can you guess what kind of birds they will become?

Looking for a job as a paraprofessional, bus driver or substitute teacher? Come to the ROE 8 Hiring Event Date: June 25, 2024 Location: Highland Community College (Room H-201) Time: 6:00-7:30 pm What should be expected out of the Fair? ● Attendees will be able to meet with representatives from local school districts, but especially River Ridge! ● Attendees will be able to complete steps necessary to obtain a substitute teacher and paraprofessional license (Finger printing and background check fee is $60.00) ● Attendees will be able to complete steps at individual districts to be a substitute teacher ● Attendees will be able to gather information and start the process with districts to obtain a bus driver’s permit ● Attendees will be able to learn about salaries and any other information pertaining to these positions from local school districts Paraprofessional candidates should bring a photo ID and verification of high school education. Paraprofessional positions are available at River Ridge for the '24-'25 school year!

STATE CHAMPIONS!! Your FFA Wildcats won the final round of Greenhand Quiz bowl in Springfield during the State FFA Convention. It was a nail-biter of a win as they were tied for first at the end of the championship round. Team members Hamish Boden, Jackson Goldsmith, Natalie Keleher, Nick Cobine and Graci Allen then each had the opportunity to answer one final buzzer question each while the other team had thre same opportunity. Your Wildcats were quick on the buzzers to beat out Kewanee. We also had four FFA members receive thier State FFA Degrees at the convention. Congratulations to Lucas Holland, Izzy Haring, Graci Vanderheyden and Arthur Horn!

The FFA officers had a day if training. The officers set goals for themselves and the chapter as well as planned out some of the years activities. The day ended with a team bonding activity.

This spring the elementary kids have taken very good care of a bird's nest in the playhouse on the playground. They were careful not to disturb the eggs laid there by momma bird and were respectful of the space the birds needed to grow. Last week, the baby birds were fuzzy and tiny. This week they are sitting up, have feathers and have really been growing.

Our students in 1st grade to 5th grade have Accelerated Reader goals each quarter. These students have reached their goals all four quarters this year! Hurray for our readers!

The 8th grade STEm class did architectural design in class today. Thier taskbwas to build the tallest free standing structure possible using spaghetti noodles and marshmallows. The class winner this quarter was Clara Gerlich, whose structure was 23 1/16 tall! Anna Cross was 2nd.
