Last Friday, the Galena Rotary Club held a meeting where they honored local sophomore students who were nominated by staff members of their respective schools for performance in the classroom, personal growth, and more. River Ridge staff nominated Ian Spangler as our Rotary Club Student of the Quarter for his academic growth and leadership in the classroom. Fifth graders just finished up an ELA unit about the Renaissance and created pieces of artwork, architecture and inventions that demonstrate what they learned. See if you can find the Mona Lisa, any inventions by Leonardo da Vinci or a play by Shakespeare in the museum of 5th grade creations.

On February 14, Chief Anthony Blansett of the US Navy visited River Ridge to award school counselor Marie Brzezinski and math teacher Susan Miles with the Impact Influencer Award. These staff members received the award for writing recommendations that helped senior Isaac Rife earn a full NROTC scholarship to Marquette University. Only four students across all of Illinois and Iowa received a full NROTC scholarship, so this is a huge honor! Isaac plans on studying mechanical engineering in college. If you see Isaac around, be sure to congratulate him on this phenomenal accomplishment!
