
Congratulations to Nick Cobine on winning the Creed Speaking LDE last night! He will now move on to the district competition at Geneseo. Faith Morhardt also did well to come in at 4th place.
Also in action last night was the Horticulture team. They placed third and had two students in the top 10, Lily Lucas and Katie Cobine. Nice job to everyone who competed!








Parents and Guardians: Friday, March 15 is an 11:00 dismissal! Parent Teacher conferences run from noon - 3:00. This is an unusual dismissal time (before lunch), so please make sure your students know the plan for what they are doing after school this Friday. Communicate any bus changes to your child's teacher so we all know the plan!

Students in the PSAA class are finishing up the Vet Science unit this week. They practiced putting an Elizabethian collar on a dog. They also practiced continuous and interrupted suturing techniques on a bannana.







The 8th grade STEM class finished up thr quarter with an engineering project. They had 15 minutes to build the tallest free standing structure possible using only spaghetti noodles and marshmallows. Ellie Rife was the winner!

Congratulations to Arthur Horn and Ty Spahn on winning thier categories at the District FFA Profeciency Interviews! They are now ranked in the top five in the State in thier record book categories. They will compete in the State Competition on March 23rd.



The 7th grade business students finished up the third quarter by making keychains using the Cricut to cut the vinyl designs that they created themselves. Each brought their own unique flair to the project. Here are some samples of their work.

Sending a big thank you to the Jo Daviess County Juvenile Justice program for bringing Gincy's It's Cool To Be Kind assembly to us today! Our 2nd-5th graders sang, danced and shared their writing about how important it is for all of us to be kind to each other! What a great message and what a great assembly!

Reminder that the FFA Banquet is this Thursday at 6:00 here at the high school. Students should wear official dress. Familes are encouraged to come, please bring a dish to pass. The Chapter will provide the main dish, as well as milk and place settings. See you there to celebrate your students accomplishments!


I am SOOOOOOOO PROUD. Of the growth, and the time and the dedication the high schoolers put into solo and ensemble this year. With our current point totals, we are SECOND IN THE STATE for IHSA Music Sweepstakes. Students earn points based on their division ratings at solo and ensemble and large group. WAY TO GO WILDCAT MUSIC DEPARTMENT!!!!!


On Saturday, March 2nd, five members of the middle school academic team traveled to Rockford to compete in the Bergstrom Stateline Quiz Bowl Jr Edition competition. It came down to the final question to break the tie with Rockford Lutheran edging out River Ridge to answer the final question to get the win. Well done Brogan Grube, Samuel Cobine, Brock Turner, Christian Morhardt, and Jason Lucas. On June 15-16 you can watch the exciting River Ridge game on WTVO-TV and FOX 39! Stopped at Culver's for ice cream on our way home.

The FFA Vet Science team placed 2nd in the Section One CDE! Kudos to Laiken Haas and Nick Cobine on making it into the top 10 ranking as individuals. They have a great start to their possible future career as veterinarian's! The members of our 2nd place team included Lu as Holland, Sawyer Fry, Cora Rotchie and Nick Cobine.

Middle School and High School students are learning CPR this week. If your student wants to be certified send $7 payable to River Ridge. The certificate is good for 2 years.
