Rules and Procedures for Relay for Life Volleyball Tournament, Friday, May 30, 2008

Sponsored by River Ridge High School Students

$90 per coed team of 6 players, ages 13 and up, with at least two players of each sex.  Your registration includes FREE team t-shirts.  Teams or individuals may add a one-line name for an additional $5 per shirt, also due with registration payment.

Play will begin promptly at 4:30 p.m.; teams may arrive no earlier than 3:15 p.m.  Each team should arrive at least 30 minutes early—we will play ahead.  Teams will have 10 minutes to warm up for their first match of the day (4-4-2).  Thereafter, each match will begin just 5 minutes (4-1) after the end of the previous match.  The team listed first will be the SERVING team—the opposing team will decide side prior to warm up.  Play will consist of two sets to 21; teams do not need to win by 2.

Please check in with the tournament director at the tournament table upon arrival to verify rosters & pick up t-shirts.  Please bring a current roster and marked volleyballs for warm ups.  Ball warm up is strictly limited to the gym!

Each team will be assigned games to referee, line judge, and keep score when they are not in play.  Referees are asked to bring a whistle.  Qualified (not certified) referees and line judges are required during all matches.  We appreciate your understanding and compliance.

Upon entering the building, you will walk into the commons area (cafeteria).  The commons separates two gyms where we will be hosting the tournament.  The commons has tables with seats and both gyms have plenty of bleacher seating.  Team camps are to be limited to the commons area and should be respectfully situated to allow for safe accessibility throughout the facility by all visitors.  All camp areas are expected to be clean and orderly upon each team’s departure!  We appreciate your respect and common courtesy.  Spectator fee is $1 per person.

A bountiful concession will be available to all visitors.  No outside food, coolers, or potlucks permitted, NO EXCEPTIONS!  All food and drink are limited to the commons area, readily accessible from both gyms; only bottles of water are permitted in the gyms.  Thank you for supporting our fundraiser.

Upon your team’s completion of their participation, we ask that you please check with the tournament director prior to leaving to finalize any responsibilities.  All teams are required to stay after losses to referee/line judge/score keep the next match.  The American Cancer Society is providing prizes for the top placing teams.
