The following courses are offered within the MS English Department.

    6th grade English is designed to develop and reinforce basic grammar and writing skills.  Basic grammar skills involve the eight parts of speech:  Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions, and Interjections.  Writing involves basic writing form and skills with emphasis on paragraph structure.  Narrative and Persuasive are the types of writing focused on.

    7th grade English is designed to develop and reinforce grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.  basic grammar skills involve the eight parts of speech:  Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions, and Interjections.  Grammar skills are taught a level above 6th grade.  Writing involves basic writing form with emphasis on paragraphing and sentence structure.  Types of writing involved are Narrative, Persuasive, and Expository. 

   8th grade English is designed to develop writing skills, incorporating grammar skills, and speaking skills.  Writing involves application of the writing process in narrative writing, persuasive writing, expository writing, and creative writing.  Speaking skills emphasize application to effective oral and written communication.
