This course is designed to prepare students with the technical skills needed to work in a food preparation area. It includes classroom and laboratory experiences, which enable students to be competent in food selection, food purchasing, and food preparation. The course includes an emphasis on safety, sanitation, and nutrition.
Nutrition and Foods II 9-12 .5 Credit $10.00 Food Fee
This course builds on the basic skills and principles learned in foods and nutrition as they relate to preparation techniques. Areas explored include advanced nutrition, foods and the life span, and a unit on foreign foods. This course also explores career options in food service
Apparel and Textiles 9-12 .5 Credit
This course explores the selection of styles colors, and designs that compliment the individual body. Students will choose individualized patterns and fabric for class projects that incorporate basic machine techniques, hand sewing, proper fitting, and adjustment techniques. This class allows for individual creativity when completing projects. Projects include pillows, bags, lounge pants, shorts, and hats. Students will also look at careers in this field.

Family and Employment
This course is a combination of class laboratory experiences planned to introduce the students to the field of Family & Consumer Education. It is designed to prepare students with skills to become a productive individual, family member and worker. Course content includes: making healthy food choices, food preparation techniques, basic sewing skills, clothing care and fabrics, housing and interior decorating and careers in Family and Consumer Education.
Child Development & Parenting 9-12 .5 Credit
This course will prepare students with the knowledge to be a responsible and caring parent. Project will include observation of children at different ages. Other activities will include caring for a Baby Think It Over Infant. Units of study include: planning a family, pregnancy and childbirth, infants, toddlers, school age children, guiding and nurturing children and exploring careers in child care. The empathy belly is a project in this class
Adult Living 9-12 .5 Credit
This course addresses issues that you will face as an adult, now and in the future. The skills you develop in this class will help you understand and improve family relationships and help you determine how you want to live in the family you form. The class focuses on understanding yourself, relating to others, learning skills to help you set and achieve goals, and an emphasis on responsible behavior.
Consumer Resource Management 12 .5 Credit
This course meets the Consumer Education requirement. During this course students learn to use fundamental skills to assist in making intelligent consumer decisions. Topics covered include installment buying, comparison of prices, measurement, and business math. Economics, with an emphasis on the consumer's role is also an intricate part of this course. Students may be excused from taking this course by taking a proficiency exam in January. If passed, this graduation requirement is met, but the 1/2 credit is not granted.
