Spanish 1 teaches the student basic vocabulary and grammatical structures used in conversational and written Spanish. A progression of skills is stressed that goes from speaking to reading and then writing. The use of tapes and written exercises are employed to achieve these skills. In addition to language skills, cultural aspects of Spanish speaking people are introduced.

Spanish 1 is a prerequisite. Language skills of Spanish 1 are continued with emphasis on reading and writing. Basic grammatical structures are continued during the year. In addition to language skills, cultural aspects of Spanish speaking people are introduced.

Spanish 2 is a prerequisite. This course includes a general review of grammar along with an introduction to Spanish literature. This includes short stories, essays, poetry, and even short novels. This course is conducted almost entirely in Spanish.
