All students are required, by law, to participate in daily physical education activities.  Health is a one semester course required of all students.

Instruction is given in physical conditioning activities, team and individual sports, and recreational activities.  Students may receive an exemption from this class if they meet one or more of the following conditions:  (1) active participation in an interscholastic sports program, (2) if, by enrolling in this course, the student would be prevented from taking a class required for graduation from high school, or (3) if, by enrolling in this course, the student would be prevented from taking a class required for admissions to a community college, college or university of their choice.  Students are removed from physical education classes for approximately five Fridays for CPR instruction.

The following are general conditions that apply to all Physical Education classes:

  1. One-half credit is awarded toward graduation for each semester successfully passed.

  2. Although physical education is a graded program, it is not used to computer overall grade point average.

  3. The required dress for physical education classes consist of physical education shorts and t-shirt, that can be purchased through the school, white socks and gym shoes.

  4. There is no towel service.

  5. Locks are provided.  If a student loses or damages a lock, a $5.00 fee for replacement will be charged.

  6. All students are required, by law, to participate in daily physical education unless certain qualifying exemptions have been approved by the counselor and the administration.

  7. If a student is unable to participate due to physical limitations then an Alternative Physical Education Program will be developed for that student.
